We stayed at two places in Melaka. Atlantis Residence & Double Tree
We arrived in the small Melaka airport and booked our Grab ride to Atlantis Residence. We waited for about half an hour for our ride that doesn't seem to arrive. A lady driver arrived and she was the friendliest driver we've met. She was worried we may cancel the ride and explained to us that she was stuck due to school traffic. As we moved out of the airport, I see why. The roads are small and with school along the main road, traffic were easing like a snail. However, we had a pleasant chat with the lady who talked to us like old friends, giving us a preview of Melaka life and even made sure we contacted our apartment guide before leaving us. 10 ⭐ service!
Atlantis Residence
A newly built high rise that looked like a world on its own amidst the Melaka city scape. We waited for the apartment guide to usher us in and hand us the keys.
Our studio apartment - perfect for our staycation.
Balcony view of the main attraction of the apartment. The pool that looks like a mini Sunway Lagoon.
The one bedroom apartment.
Comes with a kitchenette
Pool fun towered by the 4 pillars of apartments blocks. The only drawback was the pool water was murky. The pool need some maintenance and cleaning.
We had a great time here in Atlantis. The TV set was filled with channels more than Astro. Apart from the pool, they also had gym and sauna. It really felt like home away from home.
Double Tree, Hilton
One cant go wrong staying at Hilton or Double Tree. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by cool air and peaceful ambience. We were early so we waited at the lobby for our check in. We were already served with the famous warm chocolate chip cookies and helping ourselves with the refreshing drinks as we busks in the lobby boasting the magnificent views like this.
These were taken from the Double Tree. Super clean windows I must say.
Finally, we get our room. Time to kick back, relax and sleep?
Double Tree's Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. I cannot get enough of the smell. Reminded me of Bandung again.
Draw the curtain and zzz....
If that's not enough, choose from the Pillow Menu
There is a pool, steam room and kids room. Looking at the emerald pool, I wondered why I didn't get my lazy bum into the pool.
The kids room is one of the best I've ever seen.
Look at the big kid watching Finding Nemo
I don't know where to post this particular silly event but since this is my last post of Melaka here it is.
Due to the very relaxing stay in Double Tree, we left the hotel about 2 hours prior to our departure. We totally underestimated the traffic and it took us a very long time to arrive. The driver even took alternative roads but when we reached the airport, the check in was closed! People were already lining up to board the plane and we have a luggage to check in.
We ended up splitting our flight. Hobbes had to take another flight back home with the luggage. It was a moment of panic and disorder as we hastily passed over stuff to each other as I am going to get back to Penang first. Luckily there was one last flight by Malindo to Penang on that day. We called our friend in Penang to pick me up first and stayed over until Hobbes arrive on the next flight. It wasn't fun but something funny to remember.
