Spritzer Eco Park & Fireflies

30 April 2022

Due to the conditions of the day, there were limited pictures to showcase these 2 places. It started to rain as soon as we reached Spritzer Eco Park so there were no outdoor pictures. As for the fireflies, the river was pitch dark obviously so that we can see the fireflies. Naturally, my handphone can only pick up minimal sights of the fireflies. Really, fireflies are not meant to be seen in photo or video 😄

Spritzer Eco Park

Raya is just a day away and there were some Raya decoration here. Naturally, there must be a water shop here as Spritzer is rated Malaysia's No.1 in mineral water.

We spent our time mostly dining at STG. Food and drinks weren't that good. In fact, the drinks were so far off from the picture! I thought about having the tea set but they weren't available 😔
Since this was the only restaurant in this area, visitors will naturally dine in here and take shelter from the sun. The ambience was pretty nice though.

Expectation

Reality!

When the waitress brought the drink I thought she came to the wrong table. But it was that Lychee Rose that I ordered 😩

This lady is still happy-lah!

There is outdoor dining too but I need air-cond even though it was drizzling. Hot!

Fireflies at Kuala Sepetang

We drove about 30 minutes from Taiping to reach Kuala Sepetang. There we met our guide who was also our boatman. There wasn't a proper parking area so everyone just parked along the road side.

The landmark of Kuala Sepetang jetty.
Something about this building reminded me of the pirate movie.

We needed to go to the toilet but the boatman said there wasn't any toilet in the jetty! The only one was in the coffee shop but the coffee shop was closed in the evening. As our guide prepared the boat, we walked out of the jetty and I saw some toilets by a temple opposite the jetty. Never was I so excited to see a toilet and finally we can enjoy the boat ride freely (TMI).

Due to Covid, we rented our own boat (300). Felt so exclusive. Hehe...

The skies started to darkened as we left the jetty. In the darkness, we got deeper and deeper into the river. The river was flanked by silhouette of the forests at the distance. My body started to stiffened as all types of horror scenarios filled my head. What if we were eaten by crocodiles? What if the boat died and we were stranded? Why are we getting so deep into the river - are we getting abducted?

The guide turned off the engine and the boat started in cruise mode. He exclaimed, we have arrived!

Watch the video above for glimpses of the fireflies. Like I said, it's truly magical to see it with your naked eyes. I almost asked the guide if the humans installed Christmas lights on the trees here. I've never seen such a sight of thousands of blinking lights lighting up the forest. 💗

OK, these aren't dust on your screen but the fireflies that my mere phone picked up. There were more fireflies than what the picture can pick up. Look closely 🛸
