The Market Bangkok & Big C Supercenter

7th Oct 2019

Here we are walking from Platinum Mall towards Big C after a change of plan. Look at the traffic. No wonder we got all the cancellations from our Grab rides.

These malls were all connected through the overhead bridge. Walking here was a sight seeing trip on its own. From the elevated bridge, we get great views of the lit Bangkok skyline and the lights from all the traffic below.

We walked this far from Platinum Mall (Novotel was right above the mall). Although after walking so much today, I barely feel pain as I was mesmerized with the views and taking pictures along the way.

Look at the crazy traffic down below!

We stumbled into this mall "The Market Bangkok" hoping we can find something good to eat. We were starving.

Stepping into this mall, the mood immediately switched from hectic to peace. Compared to the crowd and traffic outside, the mall were somewhat empty. The mall was very clean and gorgeous though.

Restaurants were higher end with a steeper price. OK, no wonder :)

It was a bit of an ordeal selecting a restaurant while being hungry and tired. We decided on Hinoya Curry as the price was more decent and there were more people eating here.

After dinner, we bought some snacks here.

Greenday snacks were the cheapest here. Some of them were even cheaper as they were reaching their expiry date. Anyhow, it was a good haul as I liked these snacks. We tried freeze dried okra for the first time. It was so yummy and crunchy we had to get it.

Finally, we headed out to Big C Supercenter. We were hit by massive crowds and mostly they were tourists. Groceries were sold at wholesale price especially Thailand made goods.

Hoarders were found everywhere!

People shopping here were different. They shopped as if they were on a Mission. Aunty and uncle were even doing a live sale over their phone. "You want to buy this? Now at xyz price"

Some tourists came in and just grabbed the basket from the sales girl. Then asked rudely "xyz product, where?" The girl showed the direction and they just rushed away without even saying thank you. I don't know if some people felt so entitled or lack of good manners.

Walking to another corner, I saw several Cantonese speaking groups hoarding sanitary pads. I went to look at the price. It's not that cheap. I can cheaper ones back home.

Hello Bam Bam!

There was the famous Naraya bag brand here too

After grabbing some Lays chips, we decided to finally go back (for real). This time we really had to take a Grab as the traffic eased up.

We dropped our bags in our room and what better way to end the day than to have a good massage? It was the massage place next to our hotel. There was no divider or curtains here so everyone was massaging in the open. But of course no undressing is needed for these type of massages. The massage ladies were all very friendly and happy although it was late into midnight.

I had a full hour of head and shoulder massage while Jess took one with foot massage. It was heavenly until I felt my head was flying off my body. 1 hour of just head & shoulder massage was probably too much. Haha!

The black chill out cat at the massage place.

After bath, it was time to play with my snacks haul. I discovered that my bag had no more space as these stuff takes up a lot of space. Fret not! I had a carry on bag prepared in case this happens!
