Day 12: 16th May

A Berliner Story...

The train from Prague to Berlin was cramped. People were still standing and finding seats as the train took off. It certainly wasnt easy with luggages around. One old aunty simply abandoned her mammoth sized luggage in the middle of the train and went somewhere to seat; causing a traffic havoc in the train.

Halfway through the train, an elderly German couple crashed into our cabin. They were talking in German as though we understand! The man was very rude insisting that we vacate our window seat (which we were sitting comfortably) so that they can take those seats. He looked like a German redneck though. Don't ask me how we understood them. His wife was more polite. "Bitte, Bitte". I was not sure whether we were freaked out or just being polite, we let them take our seats.

The train entered a building and we stepped out into Berlin Haufbanhof. From medieval Prague, it felt like we have been transported to the future. Transparent cylinder lifts move up and down tubes. Trains were seen entering and exiting tubes high above us. The entire building appears to be made of glass & metal. See the actual tubes ... click here

People, welcome to Germany!

We made our way to our Jugendgastehaus. For the 1st time in Europe, we reached our hostel without getting lost. All thanks to the extremely systematic road signs.

I love our little hostel. It's situated in a quiet little neighbourhood. The hostel itself provided a very airy and simplistic design. I enjoyed the cleanliness of this place. Eventhough the place looked modest, it is equiped with security scan-in system and sensor lights.

Look at our cute bunker beds!

We came across this very important notice in the PC room. Oops...a bit too small for reading. Click on the picture to enlarge.

I captured this view on my way downstairs. It felt whimsical with the trees' grounded above me.

It's a long journey from Prague to Berlin. It's beginning to turn dark and we decided to relax and have a bite in Berlin Haufbanhof. On the way, we came across traffic lights with cute little "Stop" and "Go" man.

Fancy a wedding? Head north!

Erm...there wasnt much left to do today. As you can see it's getting dark. Let us recharge and you will see later, tomorrow is the most stamina challenging day in Europe!
