Day 3 - 14th Oct

ATV - Tepi Sawah-Monkey Forest - Sukawati

Breakfast at Tepi Sawah villa
After breakfast, we strolled around the scenic villa. Here's our foot path...

The pool. We were dipping in the pool the night before while star gazing. We had the pool to ourselves. It's really serene with natural "music" accompaniment: Insects cricketing and frogs ribbiting.

Lazy chairs for the sun bathers

Blooming water lilies by the pool

Ripe nangka found from the villa's garden & the shower room opening to the blue skies. I particularly like the idea of the little grasses growing at the edges of the roof. It's like standing underneath the earth's realm and looking above. You can have a private rain-shower if it rains of course. Just a thought :0)

Water elements around the villa

Entrance to our very own Batuan (stone inspired) villa

Our bed...The night before, we were hearing a loud strange noise from the corner of our room. It's a sound I've not heard before-sounds like a weird bird or a small predator. We were too tired and too scared to investigate the noise. Then I heard things walking at the foot of our bed. I was imagining if "The Thing" is going to jump on us. I pulled the sheets over and hope that it will go away. Haha...we slept over the strange sound don't even bother if it will attack us.

The bath

The view while you bathe. It was too dark the night before when we arrive. We were woken up with the sound of ducks, cow and dog barking. I could hear my friends in awe with the view but I was too lazy to get out of bed yet. When I finally got into the bathroom, I was greeted by this view!

- End of Tepi Sawah footpath-

ATV time!

Driving into the village. After a few rounds doing some crash course, we were off driving ourselves. It was breezy and easy until the tar road ends and we faced a more adventorous terrain. We rode along steep hilly terrain as our bike climbs up and up until we reach the peak

The peak-As we stopped our bikes to enjoy the view, suddenly there is nothing but the sound of the green paddy grasses mellowly swaying with the wind.

Natural streams run through these paddy hills. Creating a scenic and calm atmosphere.

Little kids coming out to cheer and we gave them high 5s. They are ecstatic and so warm!

The older generation concentrating in their prayer rituals.

Monkey Forest

This place is scary with packs of monkeys everywhere. There are the big ones that will sit really still and you will mistaken them as statue. Then there are a lot of baby monkeys, father, mother, grandma, grandpa, great grandparents.... They will start fighting for food and making high pitch squealing. Pretty scary as you don't know when they will come running after you.

Food!

After a long day, it's nothing better than a sumptuous dinner. We had rice, Tomyam seafood, fried chicken, fried prawns, fried vegetable, fried popiah, thai-style meat and the famous coconut jelly for dessert. We can barely move after the meal.

We had a separate Dirty Duck (Bebek Kotor) in a separate meal. Yummy! Each of us had a crispy duck serve with vegetable and sambal.
