Day 5 - 16th Oct 08

Nusa Dua-Uluwatu-Dreamland-GWK-Jimbaran

Nusa Dua watersport center offers activities like glass bottom boat, para sailing, banana boat and I've never seen before it's called "Flying Fox" (above). It's so hot that day and the beach here is not as beautiful as previous days. So we head off quickly before we melt.

Appetizer

We decided to have an early lunch at Jumbo Kuning. This I think will be the most expensive meal as it served an authentic Indonesian 3 course meal while traditional dancers entertain the guests. Flowers thrown around when we enter the restaurant.

Sweet dessert

A male dancer. This dance is somewhat haunting. The music is strange. He will move in weird position, his eyes opening wide as if he's possessed.

The band of dancers

The sweet balinese greeting we received when we enter the restaurant

Uluwatu

Uluwatu-the temple built on top of haven

The wave never cease to amaze me. The water is sky blue...even the foams are blue. The place is the ultimate epitome of nature when the earth begins.

The hazy atmosphere where a staircase leading into another section of the temple. The picture reminds me of a scene from a movie. Quiet, old and smoke in a distance. Not sure what beholds at the end. Monkeys are seen frolicking and bathing at a small pool nearby...extinguishing the heat of the day

I've got a monkey on my back!

This old lady was seen at the entrance of the temple selling guava for the monkeys. As there were monkeys everywhere, the temple people offered a 60,000 rupiah guide. 60,0000 rupiah! OK, we decided to brave ourselves. If we survived the Monkey forest the other day, we can survive this. This lady was shaking her head assuring us that the monkeys here are safe and handed us her stick without any hesitation as a protection. When we returned, we had a small chat with her as she draws a heart-felt connection towards her.

She's 80 over years old and carry the fruits on her head every day to the temple by foot. Under the scorching sun, it took her about half hour everyday by foot to the temple. The guava that she's selling is just 1000 rupiah which is just a cost equivalent to a glass of plain water. Regardless, she keeps on smiling and you can see how genuine her smile is as above. She keeps laughing when we told her that she's still so strong at an age like that...showing her few remaining teeth. At that time, it was 2pm and she had not sell any fruits yet. We were so touched and bought a couple of fruits from her.

Dreamland

Surfer's paradise

My vacation home in the distance. Waking up every morning to the sound of breaking waves and clear sun rise :)

Beach people

GWK. Bali's upcoming cultural park. The above is the statue of Vishnu.

We quickly wheezed through GWK and make a quick dash to Jimbaran to catch the sunset

Jimbaran sunset dinner. The view is perfect and I have never seen such a beautiful sunset before. It happening right in front of our eyes as we enjoyed our dinner. The wave made a beautiful music. Sea breeze blowing as we slowly enjoyed our seafood dinner with our feet tucked into the cold sand. A band of musicians were going from table to table serenading the diners with oldies. I was surprised how good they were when they whipped up some Chinese songs for a group of Chinese diners. However, we were pretty disgruntled as they don't even bother to drop by our table. Probably we were young and don't look like a good tipper. Grrr.... anyway, the priority will be given to non-Asians...so don't be surprised. Jimbaran was another site where the Bali bombing occured. I am glad the place is brought back to live.

Bintang-Bali's special brew. Gotta try it!

Our yummy seafood dinner. Crab, squids, mussel, prawns and fish were served in a spicy sauce
